• ADEPE has for the last decade contributed to the social protection of vulnerable poor households by providing financial assistance enabling them to access to benefits of community health insurance scheme “mutuelle de santé”. ADEPE has thrived to improve the health conditions of its beneficiaries especially in Rubavu district where 270 women households were empowered to insure the good health of their children and their respective families. Through the economic support they got, all of them could pay health insurance for their children and assured to offer a balanced diet to their households. As result, infant mortality, malnutrition and HIV/AIDS prevalence were reduced and family planning addressed and well improved.

  • ADEPE led sensitization campaigns aiming at mobilizing local population and motivate them to affiliate to community health insurance scheme. This was made possible by increasing empowerment of the members of the community and support towards development of income generating activities or projects:

  • ADEPE provided financial support to the women cooperatives /groups who benefited training for behavior change. ADEPE used a module on Information Education and Communication to Change mindset and knowledge, attitudes and practices which influence the non-affiliation on mutual health, family planning and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, drugs and sexual abuse.

  • In fact, ADEPE recognizes that good health induces economic growth because it mitigates production losses caused by illness in families, workers, increases adult productivity through improved nutrition, increases school attendance and improves learning, maximizes the use of resources that were totally or partially unavailable due to illness, and frees up resources that would otherwise have to be allotted to treating illnesses.
